Job responsibilities
1.
Receiving patients on arrival in Reception and answering
telephones in a professional and courteous manner.
2.
Organising patient appointments, in person or on the
telephone. Arranging hospital
appointments when requested to do so and booking ambulances when needed.
3.
Answering general enquiries, explaining surgery
procedure, making new and follow up appointments.
4.
Receiving and recording requests for house visits and
following the correct practice procedure when organising these visits.
5.
Distribution of Repeat Prescriptions to GPs for signing,
and sorting ready for collection by patients and pharmacies.
6.
Restoring telephone services in the morning, and
transferring calls to the Out of Hours service in the evening. Liaising with Sheffield GP Collaborative
where necessary.
7.
Managing incoming mail, including scanning and attaching
of letters into patient records.
8.
Implementing the Practices call and re-call systems,
liaising with the Practice / Data Administrator to ensure that requirements
are being met.
9.
Ensuring that consulting rooms are tidied, aired and
adequately supplied as requested by the health care professional.
10.
Opening and locking of premises, following all relevant
security procedures.
11.
Receiving messages for GPs and nurses.
12.
Any other filing, record keeping and distribution of
documents as appropriate.
13.
Fully utilise SystmOne and all other Surgery IT systems.
14.
Keeping the waiting and reception areas tidy and ensure
adequate stocks of stationary, etc.
15.
Liaising with external organisations where necessary,
such as Social Services and other agencies.
16.
Attending suitable courses, either on site or external,
as directed by the Partnership to enhance your skills.
17.
Attending all CCG events as directed by the Practice
Manager.
18.
Demonstrating duties to new or less experienced staff.
19.
Resolving straightforward job related issues, including
locating patient documentation and helping to resolve minor problems.
20.
Any other duty commensurate with the post and as directed
by management.
Other
Responsibilities:
1.
The post holder will be expected to maintain strict
confidentiality at all times.
2.
The post holder will ensure that they are aware of and
apply health and safety and fire precautions across the practice.
3.
The post holder is to ensure data protection is
maintained at all times.
4.
The post holder will be flexible in terms of working
hours in order to provide cover for annual leave and other staff absences.
5.
The post holder will support the Practice as required,
across the range of his/her duties as appropriate within the grading of this
post. In the context of rapid and
ongoing change within the NHS and the Practice, the above responsibilities
represent the current priorities and requirements for the post. These priorities will develop and evolve
over time. Any significant changes
will be the subject of full communication and consultation with the post
holder.
