Job summary
We are looking for a part-time Receptionist for 20 hours per week to
join our patient orientated and friendly team. The practice aims to deliver
very high standards of care and service to its patients, and you will be a key
member of our front of house team, often being the first contact for our
patients.
This is a varied, rewarding and challenging role which will suit
people who enjoy working in a busy environment with lots of patient contact
(both face to face and on the telephone).
You should be comfortable working
with IT systems, be accurate in your work, have a calm nature, enjoy working as
part of a team, be keen to learn new skills, have a friendly and caring
approach, and keep a sense of humour.
Main duties of the job
To provide a high quality, professional reception and administrative service to patients and the practice team.
To act as the first point of contact for patients contacting the Practice and to portray the Practice in the highest possible professional basis. To ensure that enquiries from patients are efficiently and courteously handled to the mutual satisfaction of the partners and patients
Book in, amend and cancel patient appointment in line with practice appointments procedures.
Ensure that patients without appointments but who need 'urgent consultations are booked into appropriate slots.

The practice has a friendly team of GP's, nurses, paramedics, pharmacists, physicians associate and GP Assistants along with the admin and reception teams.
The role will be part time worked on a rota covering the hours 07:45 - 18:30 Monday to Friday

Deal with telephone and email requests for appointments ensuring that the correct
protocols are followed for routine and urgent care
Signpost
patients to the correct service or clinician
Deal
with all general enquiries & explain procedures
Process
new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
Management
of repeat prescriptions, ensuring they are processed accurately, timely and
efficiently
Take
information from patients regarding transport requirements and add this to the
Patient Transport System
Input
data into the patients healthcare records as necessary
Open
and direct post
Photocopy
documentation as required
Take
details of change of details, amend on Emis and notify the secretaries of
patients out of the practice area.
Charging
patients the appropriate amount for private work, providing a receipt to the
patient
Ensure
blood forms are ready for the phlebotomy clinic
Greet
visitors ensuring that all visitors sign in and direct them to the appropriate
person
Ensure
clinical rooms are set for the beginning of each clinic
Open
and close the surgery as per the procedure
Manage
all queries as necessary in an efficient manner
Maintain
a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
Provide
cover for reception during staff absences
Support
all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
Undertake
any additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the partners or
management team
