Main duties of the job

The Healthcare Assistant will support clinical staff by delivering high-quality patient care and carrying out essential health checks and procedures. Key responsibilities include- this list is not exhaustive:

  • INR review monitoring and recording patient INR results for anticoagulation management.
  • LD check assisting with learning disability health checks.
  • MH check conducting and recording mental health physical checks.
  • SMI check supporting severe mental illness health reviews.
  • Phlebotomy taking blood samples for diagnostic purposes.
  • ECG performing and recording electrocardiograms.
  • NHS Health Checks delivering routine health assessments (BP, BMI, lifestyle advice).
  • Vaccinations administering certain vaccines as directed by protocol.
  • Clinical System Knowledge proficient in using EMIS for patient records and data entry.

The role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Has completed the Care Certificate
  • proof of any courses or training qualifications commensurate with the post

  • Has used Emis clinical Software
  • Has worked in a primary care environment

  • Able to perform venepuncture
  • Broad knowledge of clinical governance
