Main duties of the job
The Healthcare Assistant will support clinical staff by delivering high-quality patient care and carrying out essential health checks and procedures. Key responsibilities include- this list is not exhaustive:
- INR review monitoring and recording patient INR results for anticoagulation management.
- LD check assisting with learning disability health checks.
- MH check conducting and recording mental health physical checks.
- SMI check supporting severe mental illness health reviews.
- Phlebotomy taking blood samples for diagnostic purposes.
- ECG performing and recording electrocardiograms.
- NHS Health Checks delivering routine health assessments (BP, BMI, lifestyle advice).
- Vaccinations administering certain vaccines as directed by protocol.
- Clinical System Knowledge proficient in using EMIS for patient records and data entry.
The role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

an integral part of the general practice team
Provide
clinical support to registered nurses and other healthcare professionals within
the organisation
Deliver
basic clinical care interventions under supervision, supporting continuity of
care and patient safety initiatives
Act
as a chaperone as required
Ensure
specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
Provide
support during minor operations as required
