Job summary

To provide efficient and accurate dispensing of medication to the patients, and to ensure effective financial control of the Dispensary.

To take responsibility for your own work and ensure completion of all tasks in good time.

To assist other colleagues as required

Main duties of the job

Provide mentorship and guidance for trainee dispensary staff apprentices and students. Line manages the dispensary staff in accordance with current practice policy.Ensure team members complete significant event forms correctly and in a timely manner, oversee training of new Dispensers,lead the team of Dispensers and organise a weekly rota or deputise the latter as required, take responsibility for developing their own clinical competence leadership and reflective practice skills within the workplace, carry out appraisals, identify training needs based on competencies required for the DSQS and complete the annual DSQS as required.Arrange staff meetings and training as required.Ensuring that all returned controlled drugs are disposed of,recorded correctly.Responsible for maintaining efficient cost effective stock control minimising wastage through outofdate stock.Inconjunction with the Medicines Manager ensure controlled drugs are dispensed with in accordance with practice policy.With the Medicines Manager review the latest guidance ensuring the dispensary conforms to NICE CQC.Toliaise with the Lead GP and Medicines Manager for Dispensing over formularies, ensure and maintain effective distribution of dispensing supplies to the Surgery,be responsible for the commercial buying of drugs and Surgery sundries for the Practice,gain information and negotiate sales terms from pharmaceutical companies and their representatives concerning the commercial details of their products

Essential

  • Qualified Dispenser (NVQ Level 2)
  • English & Maths to GCSE Level 3 or equivalent
  • Recognised Dispensing Qualification

Desirable

  • Management Qualification
  • NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent

  • Full and clean driving licence
  • Legal Right to work in the UK
  • A Full passport
