Job summary
The role of Receptionist/ Admin is a multi-disciplinary role with the main duties being telephony based (including both incoming and outgoing calls)
Receive, assist, and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
Candidates should be able to communicate well with patients and colleagues and have an ability to stay calm under pressure.
Main duties of the job
Receiving patients in reception area.
Making appointments with and directing patients to, the most appropriate healthcare professional
Respond to all queries and requests from patients and visitors to the practice as appropriate
Filing and retrieval of medical records (electronic and manual).
Receiving in-coming telephone calls, including emergency requests demanding decision.
Making outbound calls to patients to relay patient messages.
Accurate message handling.
Explain practice arrangements and requirements for new and temporary patients and processing new patient registration forms according to Practice Policy
Processing of repeat prescription requests and maintenance of clerical aspects of repeat prescribing service.
Record statistical information for audit.
Operation of clinical computer system.
Deal with emergency situations.
Scan/file documentation into electronic medical records.
Liaising with stakeholders including patients, colleagues, doctors, hospital trust, ambulance personnel and community healthcare professionals where necessary.
About us
This Practice Team consists of 13 doctors supported by a wide multidisciplinary Team of Healthcare Professionals and a large Admin Team.
The Practice has approximately 17500 patients, living in Consett and surrounding areas. Applicants should have the ability to work as part of a team but will also be required to work autonomously.
Applicants should be of smart appearance, with a pleasant personality.
The practice is fully computerised in modern purpose built accommodation.
