Job summary

The Holbrook & Shotley Practice is looking for a highly motivated person to join our reception team. Reception experience desirable but not essential as training will be given.

Main duties of the job

  • Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the caller's requests appropriately
  • Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system
  • Allocate home visits to the clinical team in line with the Practices Home Visit protocol
  • To support the practice clinical team by signposting patients to the appropriate healthcare professional or service, working as part of the practice's multidisciplinary team.
  • To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception and administrative duties. Duties can include but not limited to, greeting and directing patients, booking appointments, processing of information and assisting patients as required.
  • To act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team.

About us

The Holbrook & Shotley Practice has 3 GP partners, 1 salaried GP, 3 Practice Nurses, Clinical Pharmacist, Practice Paramedic, a Trainee Nurse Associate, 2 Phlebotomists and a dedicated and supportive Reception, Administrative and Dispensary teams.

We look after 8,000 patients across two surgeries (Holbrook and Shotley) and have dispensaries at both surgeries.

Job Summary

The main responsibilities of the post holder is to ensure a timely response to all enquiries to the practice by telephone and in person.

Working as part of a team the post holder will be responsible for answering incoming telephone calls across the whole practice. You will be required to make appointments in line with our appointment policy. You will also be required to contact patients upon the request of doctors, nurses and other health professionals.

  • GCSE English and Mathematics (C or above/4 or above)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong IT skills
