This is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly London GP Surgery as a GP Assistant. This is a permanent full-time role at 37.5 hours/week. Main duties of the job
A GP Assistant is a new role that can support all aspects of the running of a GP Surgery. Although experience in primary care (and Emis/Docman/AccuRx in particular) will be an advantage, all training will be given.
Typical duties will include:
- Assisting the clinicians with their hospital referrals and other administration relating to patient care.
- Assisting the practice management team with ordering supplies, liaising with vaccine manufacturers, taking minutes of practice meetings
- Assisting the digital scanning team with clinical correspondence filing
- Assisting the reception team at busy times with arriving patients, booking appointments for patients, retrieving paperwork for collection. Supporting the prescription clerk team with repeat prescription requests.
- Assisting the medical reports team with Subject Access Requests and preparing notes/reports for clinicians to process.
With more training, duties can include:
- Processing clinical results relating to breast screening and cervical screening and other national screening programmes.
- Summarising medical records for newly registered patients (Read/Snomed codes)
- Summarising basic incoming clinical correspondence
About us
Westbury Medical Centre is traditional modernised GP Surgery in Wood Green, London. We have a friendly and supportive team with high rates of staff retention. At our GP Surgery, there are social events for staff throughout the year (e.g. boat trips, evening meals, Sunday brunches, and Christmas meals). There is a birthday gift scheme.
The main patient waiting area, all clinical consulting rooms, and most administration areas are air-conditioned.
There is a small car-park but we encourage all members of staff to commute to Surgery via public transport, walking or cycling (there is secure bike storage).

- English language proficiency
- Basic computing skills - using Outlook email/calendar, Microsoft Teams for video meetings, basic Word, basic Excel; competent keyboard typing ability

- Dependable, reliable, and punctual nature - excellent attention to detail.
