Job summary
As a Receptionist/Administrator you will receive, direct, and assist patients and visitors in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous and friendly manner. Providing administrative support, services and general assistance to doctors and other Practice staff efficiently and effectively.
Main duties of the job
- Provide an effective, efficient, and friendly reception service to patients and visitors.
- Make appointments and deal with all general enquiries for patients.
- Book, amend and cancel appointments on the day and for future dates.
- Take and process messages, requests, and tasks to and from patients in person.
- Using your own judgement, ensure that patients requesting urgent appointments, advice or home visits are correctly processed and the doctor on duty informed, as necessary.
- Ensure that new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately.
- Keep reception tidy, maintaining a clear desk policy and complying to patient confidentiality and data protection.
- Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non GMS) services, accept payments and issue receipts for the same.
- Give out test results on patients request
- Assist the clinical staff and management with any administrative tasks deemed appropriate, including chronic disease recalls.
- Maintain admin task box
- QOF support
Open the surgery at the start of the day, taking early phone calls from staff and covering reception for the first part of the morning.
Undertake any additional tasks appropriate to the post as requested by the Practice and/or other Managers.
