Job summary
To support the Dispensary Manager in ensuring the safe and smooth running of the Operation.
The successful applicant will work as part of a busy dispensary team, operating a wide range of services to a community with diverse needs, and play a pivotal role in ensuring the needs of the business are met and the dispensary and practice operates safely and efficiently.
Main duties of the job
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Ensure a high quality, personable, service is provided to all patients
- Elect the correct items to make up a prescription
- Measure liquids and count out tablets and medicines
- Make sure prescriptions are legal and accurate create labels which give information about the medicines and how to use them
- Order new stock using computerised systems
- Carry out the day-to-day activities of a Dispensary Assistant/Technician including prescription counting and prescription end of the month submissions
- Assemble Dossette boxes according to current SOPs.

About us
Ridgeway View Family Practice is a friendly, flexible and supportive training practice. We are
a rural practice with two sites in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in North Wiltshire.
We are close to the M4 Junctions 15 and 16 and a short commute from the market towns of
Marlborough, Hungerford, Cirencester, Malmesbury and Royal Wootton Bassett.
We work closely with our PCN partners and have a Home Visiting Paramedic team, a First
Contact Physiotherapist, a Prescribing Mental Health Nurse, Care Co-ordinators, a Health
and Wellbeing Coach and active Social Prescribers. We are also part of a wider network of 4
PCNs called the Brunel Health Group, which aims to work together to share ideas and best
practice.

Qualifications
Essential
- Qualified to at a minimum of NVQ level 2 Dispensary Assistant (or will have completed all relevant training before start date)
- Build effective working relationships with customers, partners, external bodies and colleagues
- Demonstrate the ability to use own initiative and work efficiently under pressure
- Good working knowledge/experience of dispensing prescriptions
- Proven ability to provide good customer service, remain calm in busy periods ensuring a customer focussed approach
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills
- Ability to work unsupervised and as a member of a team
- Good computer skills
- Ability to work flexible hours for sickness and holiday cover
Desirable
- Previous experience of working in a pharmacy environment This role would suit someone who has experience of working in either community or retail Pharmacy environment
- Willing to learn new skills in line with business need
