Job summary

The Dispenser is primarily responsible for issuing medication to patients who are eligible for prescriptions to be dispensed by the clinical staff working from Littlebourne Surgery and for supporting repeat prescribing and other tasks across our surgeries.

This role is part time working 17.5 hours per week and includes:

Working closely with the team in our purpose-built dispensary in Littlebourne

Processing prescriptions and dispensing medication accurately

Participating in quality processes and learning from near misses and errors

Dealing with queries from clinicians and other practice staff

Explaining compliance to patients and dealing with queries

Working with the dispensary and practice IT systems

Supporting the wider practice team such as assisting with repeat prescribing and reception duties

Contributing to ideas for quality improvement in systems and processes

The successful candidate will:

hold a suitable qualification, NVQ2 in Pharmacy Services as a minimum

display the professionalism expected of the role

have experience of working in primary care

display the highest levels of discretion, tact and confidentiality

be able to develop good rapport with patients

have a caring & compassionate communication style when dealing with patients

be able to demonstrate good organisational and IT skills

have a keen eye for detail

be able to work under pressure when required

able to prioritise your work appropriately

be able to develop and maintain effective assurance systems

work flexibly with the wider practice team supporting prescribing activities and other tasks

About us

Canterbury Medical Practice's priority is to provide the highest standard of clinical care to the 24,000 patients registered with the Practice as well as those from other practices who are seen in our additional clinics. We aim to work collaboratively with other healthcare providers and support organisations, to enable more patients to be treated in a primary care setting, closer to home.
