We are delighted to offer a unique opportunity for an experienced Phlebotomist to join our small, friendly team at Yorkleigh Surgery.
The Practice prides itself on creating a warm, welcoming environment for staff and patients. We provide quality clinical care to approximately 8000 patients and have worked to establish close connections within the local community, including nursing and residential homes, pharmacies, the District Nursing Team and other healthcare professionals.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient collection of blood samples from patients in accordance with NHS protocols and infection control procedures.
Duties include preparing equipment, confirming patient identity, ensuring correct labelling of samples, and maintaining accurate records.
You will work closely with patients of all ages, often providing reassurance and support during the procedure. The role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
About us
Our
clinical team consists of two GP Partners, three salaried GPs, two Practice
Nurse's and one HCA, as well as the extended team of Pharmacists, Social
Prescribers and First Contact Practitioners.
They
are supported by a committed team of care navigators, administrative support
and managerial team.
We
are also a training practice with GP Registrars and Student Nurses on placement
with us.
As
a smaller team we have to work collaboratively to ensure we are achieving the
high standards that we attain to and are providing care to our patients to be
proud of. To encourage an ethos of us working together as a team, we arrange
bi-monthly socials, have small gifts at special times of the year and have a
big, post Christmas celebration.

a.Obtaining patient consent for the collection of a blood sample
b.Performing venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols
c.Maintaining accurate patient records on the clinical IT system
d.The correct labelling, packaging and storing of samples.
e.Effective use of the specimen log, resolving any discrepancies.
f.Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner.
g.Maintaining an effective liaison with the NHS Trust laboratory staff.
h.Working collaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary for patient related matters.
Hours to be worked on a rota basis, Monday - Friday, between the hours of 8:00am - 18:30pm
Interviews are expected to take place week commencing June 23rd.
