Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated General Practitioner to join a dynamic healthcare team in the vibrant seaside community of Whitley Bay. We are seeking a Salaried GP to work 6 sessions per week, contributing to the provision of high-quality patient care. We are a friendly and welcoming practice currently consisting of 3 Partners (2 GP and 1 Managing) and 2 salaried GPs. The successful candidate will enjoy a supportive environment with a focus on continuous professional development.

* GMS practice with 8600 patients

* Low home visiting rate

* Emis Web supported by Ardens and Accurx

* High QoF achieving

* CQC rating Good

* Training practice for GP Registrars, medical students, student nurses and pre-reg pharmacists.

Main duties of the job

The delivery of highly effective medical care to the practice population.

The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract.

Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance.

Effective management of long-term conditions.

Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks.

On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles.

Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance.

Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload.

Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process.

Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice.

Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required.

Support the Partners and Management Team in achieving the strategic aims of the practice.

Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies at all times.

Job responsibilities

The successful candidate will be a vital member of the primary care team, responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to a diverse patient population. The role includes managing a caseload, conducting consultations, prescribing medications, and developing care plans in accordance with practice protocols. The GP will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care and participate in continuous professional development to maintain and enhance clinical practice. The ideal candidate will be GMC registered, have experience in UK General Practice, and possess excellent communication and time management skills. This position offers a structured work environment with support for professional growth and a focus on delivering patient-centered care.

Duties included but are not limited to:-

In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion.

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether selfreferred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation. - Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.

Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.

In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.

Providing counselling and health education.

Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.

Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.

Collecting data for audit purposes and complying with QOF requirements.

Delivering enhanced services.

Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).

Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate

In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
