Job summary

Arundel Surgery are looking for a salaried GP to join our friendly and caring practice. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive practice who believe in diversity in your medical career to improve your work life balance. We are looking for a Salaried GP to help cover between 4 - 8 sessions per week leaving the rest of the week open for you to either developed other career interests or spend more time with your family. There is potential for progression to future partnership.

We are interested in hearing from a GP at any stage of their career including recently or newly qualified GPs. You will work with the practice clinical team delivering high-quality, patient centered care to our patients within our practice (approx. 6,600 patients). You will will manage a patient list and provide peer support to the doctors, nurses, registrars and other clinicians within the practice.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will support the practice with 2 clinics per day of 12 15-minute appointments each.

You will have approximately 1 duty day every week and will be supported by the very experience nurse practitioner and the rest of the GPs.

You will always have a 20-minute coffee break in the morning and all the doctors attend this in our upstairs staff room to make sure we keep our team spirit high and have a quick clinical update.

You will be expected to do home visits for patients on your lists, but this is up to your own discretion after a telephone consultation if it is needed or not.

You will receive a week of induction to get to know the running of the practice to make sure you are comfortable with Standard operating procedures across the different areas including the administration team, nurses and doctors.

We are a well-respected and long established semi-rural practice in the historic town of Arundel, lying at the foot of The South Downs National Park.

The surgery building is modern and purpose built, which lends to a big waiting room and larger than average consultation rooms.

We are a well organised, supportive close-knit team and the partners have an open-door policy and transparency to help support any new clinical members of staff during their working day. The team consists of three GP Partners, one salaried GP, an experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner and a highly skilled Practice Nursing Team. We are also supported by an efficient Patient Care Advisor and Administrative Team who run an efficient workflow system.

Our multidisciplinary team is ever expanding and includes the following roles First Contact MSK Practitioner, Clinical Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician, Care Coordinators, Mental Health Practitioner, Youth Emotional Support Counselor, Carers Support and Social Prescribing Team

We give a high standard of care and still maintain personal lists which ensures we get to know our patients and are fully aware of their problems. We believe this continuity offers an efficient, effective and personalised service.

We have achieved good on both our CQC inspections.

We work with and alongside a supportive and driven PCN.

Clinical responsibilities:

In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the doctor will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home ifneeded, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion

Making professional, autonomous decisions, in concordance with your patient, regarding their health needs. This should be made in the framework and guidelines of the West Sussex CCG, NICE and the Good practice guide of the GMC.

Referring onto the appropriate services as needed and liaising with them if any telephone referrals are needed eg: one call, CMHT (community mental health team)

Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to practice standards

Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)

Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate

Weekly on call duties.

Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety

Support the practice with addressing QOF parameters in the patient list
