Job summary

The role would suit an enthusiastic, hard working, energetic person who takes pride in their work. Good housekeeping builds strong foundation within a workplace. You will be part of a team who work closely with all departments.

Subject to applicant we are happy to consider job share to make the posts as flexible as possible so that the working week can be shared within the hours of 8 am and 6.30 pm.

Main duties of the job

The Housekeeping team are highly valued members of our Practice, pivotal to the smooth daily running of our services offered. The main duties are to ensure our Surgery is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness. We are fully compliant with the standards required for cleanliness in a healthcare setting, infection control and the Care Quality Commission. The importance and regard into which we hold this role can not be under stated. Full training in the required standards will be given.

About us

We are a modern and forward thinking general medical practice located in the small market town of Bourne. We take pride in caring for our community and their families, providing a comprehensive range of general medical services to the town and the surrounding areas including full dispensing services to those patients who live in the surrounding villages. We have modern premises which are fully compliant with all the necessary disability and healthcare standards. We also have a level 3 operating theatre (the same as in a hospital) where we undertake a range of day procedures. This area requires additional specific training and cleaning standards. We have eleven doctors, two MSK Practitioners, one Clinical Pharmacist, ten Practice Nurses and 4 Health Care Assistance.

You will be joining a hard working team who take pride in their work, this is evident in the Five Star Compliance in Cleanliness award that has consistently been received.

We were assessed as Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission in August of 2023.

Job description

Job responsibilities

DAILY JOBS

Vacuum all areas of the surgery that have been in use

Empty bins into the correctly colored bags:

Clinical Waste Orange Sacks (full sacks to be left outside in wheelie bin)

Household Waste Black Sacks

Clean all sinks and working surfaces that have been in use

Clean and disinfect all toilets

Damp dust all surfaces that have been in use

Tidy rooms ready for use

Notify Business Partner of any breakages or hazards

Wash up items in consulting rooms and the Common Room

Clean worktop surfaces in kitchen

Wash floors in treatment/consulting rooms

Maintain supplies of cleaning materials

Disinfect all Patient couches twice weekly

Wipe door handles/glass panels where necessary

WEEKLY JOBS

Polishing furniture and reception desk

Clean telephones with cleaner provided

Check stock of cleaning materials

Clean entrance doors

Spot clean any carpet stains need carpet cleaner for this

Put rubbish out for collection on correct day (every day)

ON ROTATION

Week 1 - Skirting boards

Week 2 - Wash down chairs

Week 3 - High level dusting

Week 4 - Wash down doors

MONTHLY JOBS

Clean inside of any windows that need attention

Empty vacuum bag

Descale sinks/taps

Hoover chairs

QUARTERLY JOBS

Liaise with Business Partner regarding carpet cleaning (contractors used)

Check and wash any curtains/nets/venetian blinds

Arrange spring cleaning schedule
