**Initially 12 month contract with a view to be permanent after 12 months**

Salford Medical Centre is a GP practice with over 12,000 patients. We are the fastest growing practice in Salford taking on average 200-300 registrations per month. We also have a branch practice: The Quays Practice which currently operates out of Ordsall Health Centre.

We are looking to recruit 2 part time Receptionists to work within our Reception & Administration team. These are front of house roles where you will be part of the team who meets & greets our patients on a daily basis.

The right candidate will be a hard working & organised team player. We are looking for someone who is flexible and eager to learn new skills. Excellent communication skills (verbal & written) are essential and a good understanding of IT is desirable. Previous experience working in a GP practice or in a similar role would be an advantage however full training is provided in-house so inexperienced candidates should not be discouraged.

What the practice requires:

  • You must be able to work between the hours of 8am - 6:30pm
  • You must be able to work at BOTH sites.
  • We require flexibility to cover sickness / annual leave (sometimes at short notice)

Main duties of the job

As these are front of house roles the main duties include:

  • Answering & making calls to patients, relatives & other health care workers
  • Appointment management
  • New patient registrations
  • Prescriptions
  • Meeting & greeting patients
  • Actioning tasks from the clinicians.

About us

Salford Medical Centre is one of 10 practices that make up the Salford South East Primary Care Network.We are a long standing high achieving practice and at our last assessment were rated as Good by the CQC.

We work using the EMIS clinical system as well as using Footfall, Docman10, Vision 360, Ardens, Accurx, iPlato, Outlook.

Our practice has seen a lot of change in the last 2 years due to the opening of our branch site. We have grown from being under 4000 patients to 12,000 patients. The patient demographic at each of our sites is very different which provides variety in speaking to people from all walks of life as well as a different working environment and with different members of the team.

Due to our practice expending our clinical & administration teams have grown and diversified.Our team is a mix of ages and backgrounds giving a wealth of knowledge & support for any new starters.

Our clinical, nursing & administrative teams all work harmoniously together as they are allpatient focused and driven towards providing the best care for our patients. We also continuously review our systems & processes in order to better meet our patients needs.

Job responsibilities

  1. a. Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system

    b. Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments

    c. Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately

    d. Signpost patients to the correct service

    e. Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies

    f. Management of repeat prescriptions, ensuring they are processed accurately and efficiently

    g. Action emails sent to the practice generic email account

    h. Photocopy documentation as required

    i. Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required

    j. Input data into the patients healthcare records as necessary

    k. Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner

    l. Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times

    m. Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards

    n. Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
