An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious, enthusiastic Health Care Assistant to join our team across 4 local GP practices based in Huddersfield. We are looking for an experienced Health Care Assistant to join their expanding team and work full time alongside our current Health Care Assistants.
As a Health Care Assistant, you will assist the GP's and nursing team to deliver safe, high-quality primary care services to our patients. We are passionate about advancing Primary Care to meet the current and future challenges and strive to be resilient and sustainable whilst providing high-quality care.
Main duties of the job
The Ideal Healthcare Assistant Candidate;
- Experience of working in a clinical environment
- Good working knowledge of medical terminology
- Working knowledge of clinical computer systems
- Good communication skills with both colleagues and patients/clients
- Ability to self-motivate, organise and prioritise own workload, with good organisation and time management skills
You will ideally also have the following clinical skills;
- Experience with COPD, Asthma, Diabetes, Hypertension, CHD & Wound Care
- Experience with Annual Reviews
- Ability to perform ECG's
- Phlebotomy
- Experience in supporting the Nursing team with delegated Admin duties including; Audits, stock management & ordering supplies
As we offer an extended service to our patients, you must be able to drive and be able to work from 7:30 am.

- c.Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximitery, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately
- d.Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly
- e.Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required
- f.Support the Practice Nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics
- g.Carry out BMI checks as directed
- h.Act as a chaperone as required
- i.When trained, undertake venepuncture
- j.When trained, administer flu vaccinations
- k.When trained, carry out ear irrigation under the supervision of the Practice Nurse
- l.Carry out ECGs as requested
- m.Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
- n.Provide support during minor operations as required
- o.Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
- p.Ensure ordering of stock is reported to the Practice Nurse and cover ordering in His/her absence
- q.Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance
