Job summary

The practice is moving towards becoming a paper light environment, and the main responsibilities of the post holder will be to summarise and read code relevant information from patients clinical records into the practice computer system, working strictly in accordance with the practice notes summarising protocol.

  • Monitoring progress of notes summarising against practice targets
  • Filing and retrieving paperwork

About us

North Leeds Medical Practice is a forward-thinking practice, across two sites, one based in Harehills and the other in Moortown. We serve 20,604 patients. Our clinical team is formed of five partners, eight salaried GPs, one paramedic, one pharmacist and an excellent nursing team. The practice manager is supported by a middle management tier and admin staff. This is a very busy practice.

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
  • Medical Terminology training
  • National Clinical Coding qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working within a GP Practice
  • Experience of dealing with the public on the phone and face to face
  • Experience of using NHS computer systems for records updates, ordering and other functions (eg, Read coding, data collection, hospital referrals)
  • Attention to accuracy and detail on a consistent basis
  • Confident to respond to a range of different people and colleagues in a courteous and professional manner
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, everchanging environment
  • Understands the need to maintain data security and confidentiality of information
  • Excellent IT Skills, including Excel and Word
  • Good written and oral communication
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
