St Marys Surgery

Triage GP

Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

St Marys Surgery is a well-established and large inner-city practice serving some of the most diverse communities in the South of England. Like most GP practices, it is crucial that we work hard to prioritise and triage patient demand and to stream and signpost patients effectively in order to maximise the impact of our finite service resources. We continue to develop and refine our clinical model and have a growing multi-professional team including Advanced Practitioners, Clinical Pharmacists and a range of other skilled practitioners. Matching patient need to appropriate service response is key.

To achieve this we have adopted a Triage Coordinator or TC model whereby an experienced member of our GP team undertakes an oversight function for the "front end" of our practices' urgent and on-day services.

Main duties of the job

  • Providing our well-trained reception team with clinical advice for signposting or booking patients,
  • Providing on-hand supervision for our ANP and other non-medical workforce,
  • Providing initial review of patients via telephone to inform triage outcomes
  • Generally overseeing the front end of our GP practice urgent and on-day operations
  • Our TC may occasionally review patients face to face to inform initial assessment.
