This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, compassionate and reliable General Practice Assistant (GPA) to join our multi-disciplinary practice team.
We are a close working and dynamic team who are passionate about developing and delivering excellent quality local services to meet the needs of our patients.
Due to our practice joining a Primary Care Network, we are looking to expand our practice team by seeking to employ a General Practice Assistant (GPA) under the ARRS scheme. Our team comprises of 4 GP Partners, 4 Salaried GPs, 3 Practice Nurses, 2 HCAs and a supportive and dedicated Administrative Team.
We have a strong culture of learning and staff development
and will actively support and encourage development in any areas of special
interest.
Main duties of the job
This is a full time position offering an exciting
opportunity to support both the clinical and administrative teams in delivering
high-quality patient care. It will involve basic clinical duties and also
administrative skills.
You will play a key role in improving workflow, reducing clinician workload, and enhancing patient experience. Training will be provided and we have a strong commitment to learning and development.
You will have a clinical and administrative mentor during your probation/training period and will be expected to understand the Competency Framework and all that this entails.
The role will include work on occasional Saturdays and evenings on a rota basis for Extended Access cover.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical Support
- Use and maintain information reporting systems and databases
relevant to the position using EMIS
- Record and document vital signs (e.g. blood pressure, pulse,
temperature)
- Assist with phlebotomy, ECGs and chaperoning. Provide basic
treatment room duties.
- Support annual health checks and long-term condition
monitoring
- Run medication safety audits in conjunction with the clinical team and highlight patients that require clinical review e.g. in
response to MHRA / national patient safety alerts, the local incentive scheme,
quality and outcomes framework (QOF) or local updates
Administrative Support
- Support the clinical team with medication reviews,
hospital discharge letters and the Drug Monitoring system.
- Support the administrative team with clinical coding, summarising and achieving QOF targets as required
Practice Operations
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and service
development activities
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, and
external agencies
- Maintain confidentiality and follow practice policies and
procedures
- Participate in an annual individual performance review
(appraisal)
- Able to apply confidentiality, tact and diplomacy in
conducting the duties required of this role
