Job summary

Park Medical Practice is looking for a Practice Nurse (20 hours a week) to join our established and friendly multi-disciplinary team.

We are seeking to appoint someone with a caring nature and proactive professional manner to provide a high standard of nursing care for our 6300 patients. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Practice Nurse with good communication skills and a commitment to working as part of a strong and effective clinical team.

The Practice is an accredited practice for medical students and offers opportunities to progress and develop, in both clinical and non-clinical capacitates. This is a varied and challenging role where clinical supervision and opportunities for training and development are provided by a supportive team.

Ideally the successful applicant will qualified to undertake chronic disease management (diabetes, and/or COPD and Asthma), travel health, women's health and general treatment room tasks. There will be flexibility for the right candidate.

Main duties of the job

  • Long term condition reviews & management, encouraging Patient self-management in Diabetes, Asthma, COPD, CHD, CVA, Dementia and Learning disabilities
  • Wound care, including compression bandaging
  • Travel assessment, advice & vaccinations
  • Cervical smears and promoting health
  • Contraception reviews
  • Routine immunisations including childhood vaccinations under PGDs
  • Urinalysis
  • ECG's
  • Spirometry
  • Venepuncture
  • Blood pressure management/ hypertension management
  • Requesting basic pathology test ex: urine culture, swabs
  • Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to Nurse Manager or GPs as appropriate

About us

Park Medical is a well established surgery located in the heart of Timperley Village. Housed in a purpose built Practice, boasting state of the art facilities. The Practice consist of two GP Partners, a Salaried GP, a Practice Nurse/ Nurse Practitioner, Health Care Assistant, Clinical Pharmacists, First Contact Practitioner, Three part-time Medical Secretaries, Seven Reception Staff and a full time Practice Manager.
