Job summary

We are currently looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic person with a flexible approach to join our GP practice. The successful candidate will undertake secretarial and reception duties and will be first point of contact for our patients.

Main duties of the job

Receive, assist, and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice

Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery

Handling orders, processing of repeat/acute prescriptions.

Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients healthcare records

Processing requests for information i.e., SAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLA forms

Support Data Quality Lead with tasks/searches in relation to QP and IIF ensuring KPI are met

Coding clinical data on EMIS Web including summarising and processing GP2GP

Primary care experience preferred.

Job responsibilities

Experience

Essential

  • GCSE grade A to C in Math, English, ICT or equivalent education
  • NVQ Level 2 Customer Service or equivalent
  • Experience of working in a public reception/administrative role.
  • Experience of dealing with the public/patients.
  • Excellent communication skills/Interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of computers
  • An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated multi-skilled team
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Pleasant and articulate
  • Flexibility of working hours/able to work at the desired times

Desirable

  • Experience of working within the NHS/General Practice
  • Experience of EMIS Web Clinical System
  • Ability to work without direct supervision and determine own workload priorities.
