Medical Receptionist

The closing date is 07 October 2025

Job summary

We are currently looking to recruit a full-time experienced Medical Receptionist (job share considered) to join our small friendly city-centre GP practice.

In addition to weekday working, there might be some evening and weekend shifts on an ad hoc basis.

We expect staff to help to cover each others holiday and sickness absences so you must be flexible and available throughout the year.

Ideally, we would like someone with experience of working in a GP surgery. Experience of using EMIS Web is desirable but not essential, as training can be provided.

Main duties of the job

This role is to act as the main point of contact between the patient and the primary healthcare team.

We expect team members to be friendly, enthusiastic, reliable and efficient individuals who can thrive when expected to multi-task in a busy environment. It requires good IT skills, attention to detail, accuracy and above all excellent communication skills.

About us

We are a small city centre GP Practice with two partners, employing four part-time salaried GPs, and seek to create a supportive and low-stress environment that caters Monday to Friday for a patient list of about 7,000. Many, but by no means all, of our patients are members of the University and they are generally very pleasant, thoughtful and well-informed.
