Maternity/Locum Cover Practice Nurse

The closing date is 13 March 2026

Job summary

We are seeking a warm and capable practice nurse to provide us with some additional capacity whilst one of our nurses is on maternity leave. We are open to anything from a half a day to two days a week, depending on your availability and preference. We are also able to consider applications from anyone wishing to do term-time only.

Ideally you will have at least five years of experience, preferably in Primary Care, and skills in cytology, wound care, minor illness, immunisation programmes, travel vaccinations and the full range of treatment room services. Your attitude and commitment to high standards will be as important as your experience and qualifications.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be an experienced nurse, who acting within their professional boundaries, will provide care for the presenting patient from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of their care. They will demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and expert care for patients within the general practice. They will work with a high degree of autonomy on a day to day basis, but in a wider sense must also work collaboratively with the general practitioners to meet the needs of patients and support the delivery of policy and procedures.

About us

KES is a three-partner practice, employing three part-time salaried GPs, and seeks to create a supportive and low-stress environment that caters Monday to Friday and some Saturday mornings for a patient list of about 6,500. Many, but by no means all, of our patients are members of the University and they are generally very pleasant, thoughtful and well-informed, which makes consultations enjoyable as well as effective.
