Job description Dispensary Manager:
We are currently seeking a motivated and caring person with at least 2/3 years dispensing/pharmacy and management experience to co-ordinate and lead our team of dispensary staff. The role is to ensure the delivery of an excellent and profitable service with the provision of quick, efficient and accurate dispensing of medication to the patients of Polden Medical Practice and to ensure effective financial control of the dispensary. Considered part of the management team, the post holder will work closely with the partners and ICB pharmacist.
Main duties of the job
Key Tasks:
Supporting the Dispensary Staff.
Monthly checking the Drug Tariff for price and category changes.
Keep the dispensary finance spreadsheet up to date on a monthly basis to gauge dispensary profitability.
Check MIMS to check for unavailable drugs and to find viable alternatives.
Liase with pharmacy reps to ensure that we are signed up to the most profitable MDS (manufacturing discounts schemes.
In association with the Dispensary Lead GP, maintain and update the computerised Drug Formulary, adding new drugs and monitoring patient repeats.
Assisting with medication switches under the direction of the Dispensary Lead GP and Clinical Pharmacist.
Liaison with the ICB Medication Management Team.
Management of the sorting of prescriptions, checking endorsements, preparing forms and submitting prescriptions monthly to the Prescription Pricing Authority (PPA); dealing with prescriptions returned by the PPA.
Management of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme including staff competency recording, development and maintenance of standard operating procedures, and leading the annual DSQS audit.
Prepare the PA (personally administered items) report for the finance manager.
Manage and prepare reports for the MDS schemes.
MHRA (medicine health regulatory agency).
Address patient queries, suggestions, complaints.
Keep the dispensary finance spreadsheet up to date on a monthly basis to gauge dispensary profitability.
Participating in staff meetings and relevant training.
