Job summary

We are recruiting a Senior Healthcare Assistant to support our team in Ilkley. The role will provide variety in a practice that provides minor surgery, dermatology minor surgery and coil fittings.

To support the practice nursing team in the delivery of nursing services, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice. The healthcare assistant will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education.

Main duties of the job

a. Undertake new patient health checks

b. Support the practice nurses with health promotion programmes

c. Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximitery, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately

d. Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly

e. Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required

f. Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics

g. Carry out BMI checks as directed

h. Act as a chaperone as required

i. Undertake venepuncture

j. Administer flu vaccinations/B12 injections

k. Carry out ear irrigation

l. Carry out ECGs as requested

m. Deliver of domicilary service in tn thecommunity

n. Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation

o. Provide support during minor operations as required

p. Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session

q. Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance

r. Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy

s. Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate

IG Medical is situated in West Yorkshire with sites in Ilkley and Grassington. Our patient list is approximately 18,000.

Our clinical team includes 5 GP Partners, 12 salaried GP's, 1 Advanced Clinical Practitioner and our nursing team consists of Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistants. All supported by our hardworking managers, reception and administrative teams.

Employees of IG Medical are enrolled in Sovereign Healthcare - Asset Level 2.
