Job summary
To ensure that referrals and other letters are completed efficiently and accurately and are sent appropriately to the health care provider. Liaising between GPs, patients and secondary care providers to ensure patients are seen appropriately.
To ensure that patients are assisted courteously, efficiently and with empathy, and to support other members of the practice team in order that we may provide a caring and efficient service to the patients.
Main duties of the job
To format and correct typed referrals, or referrals generated via a dictation software, from clinical staff. Ensuring that the referrals are on the correct forms and are correct in terms of grammar, spelling and punctuation. Ensure that referral letters are correctly formatted as formal letters.
To provide an efficient audio typing from electronic dictaphone software, copy typing and word processing service for the clinical staff within the practice. This includes the typing of letters for patient referrals in an accurate and efficient manner.
To mail merge clinical letters on the clinical computer system.
To carry out the processes for eReferral / Choose and Book (or any future e-referral software) ensuring referrals are sent to the correct services as quickly as possible. Ensuring that ghost appointments are booked where necessary.
