Job summary

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, dynamic individual who will work closely with the Administration team. The role will incorporate secretarial work (referrals, patient letters), creating safeguarding reports (under the instruction of a clinician) and providing administration support to the Pharmacy Team.

Main duties of the job

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Audiotyping
  • Copy typing
  • Creating patient letters
  • Liaising with outside agencies with regards to referrals/safeguarding
  • Compiling Safeguarding reports (under the guidance of the clinician)
  • Processing of all other correspondence as required by the practice team
  • Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers
  • Providing cover for staff holidays and sickness when required

  • To allocate all requests to the GP Partners and to request the completion of reports in a timely manner. To chase outstanding reports with GPs directly
  • Providing administrative support to the Pharmacy Team

We have a list size of just over 9000 patients which is steadily increasing due to the building development in the local area. You will be joining a team who are enthusiastic and motivated to provide excellent patient care.

    We have an excellent established team which comprises of General Practitioner, Nurse Practitioners, Nursing team, Pharmacy team, First Contact Physios, Social Prescribing Link Worker, Care Coordination Team and are fully supported by efficient and friendly administration and reception team.

    Job description

    Job responsibilities

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    • Audiotyping

  • To allocate all requests to the clinicians and to request the completion of reports in a timely manner. To chase outstanding reports with clinicians directly
  • Sorting all clinical communicating and prioritising for the GP in terms of actions. Signposting some communication to others
  • Providing administrative support to the Pharmacy Team
  • Any other administrative tasks as required by the team

    Monitoring practice facilities and equipment in relation to infection control, ensuring that provision of hand cleansing facilities, wipes etc are sufficient to ensure a good clinical working environment. Lack of facilities to be escalated as appropriate.

    Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy, clean and sterile, and safe way, free from hazards. Initiation of remedial / corrective action where needed or escalation to responsible management

    Actively identifying, reporting, and correction of health and safety hazards and infection hazards immediately when recognised

    Keeping own work areas and general / patient areas generally clean, sterile, identifying issues and hazards / risks in relation to other work areas within the business, and assuming responsibility in the maintenance of general standards of cleanliness across the business in consultation (where appropriate) with other sector managers

    Undertaking periodic infection control training

    Routine maintenance of work space standards

    Waste management including collection, handling, segregation, container management, storage and collection

    Spillage control procedures, management and training
