Main duties of the job
- Undertake training as a Dispensary assistant, with the aim of completing an NVQ Level 2 Dispensing course.
- Work with the dispensary team in the day to day operations of the Dispensary ensuring a safe, efficient and accurate service for our patients.
About us
The Market cross surgery is a a primary care service for the people of Mildenhall and surrounding villages.
We have a population of around 12,000 patients and dispense to approximately 4500.
Our team consists of Partners, Doctors, Nurses,Administrators, Receptionists and additional team members from Forest Heath PCN

Job summary:
We offer a fully funded training package for Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy service skills. We provide support & mentoring for this role which will lead to a dispensing qualification. You will be working in a caring & friendly environment and would also have access to the NHS pension.
- To attain the necessary qualifications and training to support the supply of medicines and dispensing activities, under appropriate supervision, within Pharmacy services. The role will require the successful candidate to work as a part of an experienced team to provide excellent service to our diverse customer base within our community.
- Your role will be to develop the knowledge, skills and competencies of dispensing, storage, distribution and customer services, and to implement them into practice.
- Work to meet the requirements of current legislation, professional standards and ethics. Pharmacy department performance targets and achieves an accredited pharmacy qualification NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy service skills.
- As a trainee, you will have an allocated Mentor, who will support you to develop a work-based portfolio. During your training, you will undertake work-based assessments complete all your assignments and projects relating to the training framework and present evidence portfolios for assessment within specified timeframes.
- As a trainee, you will be expected to complete the essential elements of the training programme within a 12-month period. There is an initial 3-month probationary period where you will be assessed. You will need to have passed all elements of this initial period to continue the training programme.
