Job summary

We are currently recruiting for an accomplished Administrator / Clinical Coder to join our friendly, enthusiastic, hardworking team.

The role is part time at 25 hours per week, 12 midday - 5pm, Monday - Friday.

We are a busy practice where all staff members work together as a multidisciplinary team to give the best possible service to our patients.

This is an important role supporting the smooth running of the practice by ensuring accurate clinical coding of patient information and providing essential administrative cover.

As a clinical coder you will be responsible for ensuring that all external and internal patient correspondence is acted upon at the appropriate level and accurately coded in the patients medical record.

The role includes:

  • Experience in using DOCMAN and EMIS Web clinical software.
  • Ensuring that all incoming patient correspondence is scanned, acted upon and correctly coded to ensure the integrity of patient records.
  • Experience in medical terminology and clinical coding is essential.

All work must be carried out with strict adherence to patient confidentiality protocols.

Knowledge of ERS system is favourable but not essential.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail, good organisational skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team within a confidential healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Identifying relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, coding appropriately and completing any detailed actions.
  • Action all incoming emails and mail in a timely manner
  • Responsible for coding of relevant information to the patients electronic healthcare records.

Read all incoming correspondence to the practice, accurately coding the relevant diagnosis, procedure, information into the patients records. Ensure that follow-up actions, tests are brought to the attention of the relevant staff.

Ensure all QOF related data is captured.

Ensure that all clinical codes are current.

Follow practice protocols to ensure consistent and high-quality care is provided to our patients.

Correct errors in filing and ensure corresponding records are amended accurately.

About us

Our multi-disciplinary team includes GP's, Clinical Pharmacists, Practice Nurses, Health Care Assistants & others. We are also a training practice and support the training of doctors to become GP qualified. We also teach medical students and provide experience for student pharmacists. This is all supported by an extensive team of receptionists, secretaries and administrators. We are a large but friendly and supportive team and are looking for a new Administrator / Clinical coder to join us, who is hardworking and passionate about providing a high standard of care to our patients.

  • Handling patient queries where appropriate
  • Support general practice administrative tasks as required.
