Job summary

Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone

To be able to cover as and when required, with flexibility to cover annual and sickness leave is essential.

Main duties of the job

Administration

To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures.

To work in accordance of written protocols

Scanning post into medical records

Photocopy as requested / required

Registration of new patients, computer data entry and medical records.

Deduction of patient from the practice and process the return of medical records to PCSE England.

Process patients change of address computer data and medical records (have knowledge of Practice area).

Action email requests appropriately and in a timely manner.

Process repeat prescription request in accordance with Practice guidelines.

Electronic Prescribing Service

Have working knowledge of telephone system, during and after hours.

Reception

Receiving patients

Consulting with members of Practice team

Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address.

Be able to cover all reception positions as necessary

Process appointment requests for today and future appointments from patients by telephone and in person.

Deal with visits requests

Other Tasks

Clear rooms after surgeries

Ensure building security - have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm.

Make coffee/tea for doctors

Any other tasks allocated by managers

About us

We have a large practice of roughly 10,500 patients, and our team work extremely hard to ensure the best possible care for every single one of them.

Our team consists of 5 reception staff, reception manager, 2 nurses, 1 nurse practitioner 2 HCA's, 3 pharmacists, 3 secretaries, practice manager and deputy, 3 GP partner's, 1 salaried GP and 1 long term locum GP.

We are are also a training practice and have 4 trainee GP's and students.

Our surgery consists of 2 building and a large carpark for staff and patients alike, and a pharmacy on site.

Our staff are all very caring, friendly and welcoming. We all aim for the highest of standards.
