Job summary

We are a progressive and friendly 9 GP training Practice and are offering an exciting opportunity for a qualified, enthusiastic and motivated Practice Nurse to join our existing team in Longridge, in the heart of the Ribble Valley.

This is a post where we want to develop an interest in Diabetes and we envisage that the post holder will work up to 37.5 hours per week. We are happy to consider applications from candidates working full or part time.

We also acknowledge that the Job Description is very detailed, we would encourage you to apply if you have competencies within the the scope of the role, even if you do not possess experience in all of the areas. We are happy to engage in the relevant training for the appointed candidate.

This role is to compliment our existing multi skilled nursing team consisting of Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses and HCAs.

We are a training Practice and are keen to further develop and expand our team. Experience of working in a primary care environment would be an advantage.

We would welcome additional skills in mentorship of the nurse team, a nurse prescriber and someone with an interest in the future Management of the nurse team, although these are not essential.

You will be employed by Drs Griffin, Lakeland, Gee and Miller and will be eligible to join the NHS Pension Scheme.

Although you will be paid in line with the Agenda for Change pay rates, this is not an AFC contract.

Main duties of the job

Practice Nursing is a fundamental part of our nursing team and we are seeking an experienced Practice Nurse to join our multi skilled and diverse nursing team.

The main areas of responsibility will be the management of patients with long-term conditions, with a special interest in diabetes A knowledge and experience of asthma, diabetes and COPD would also be an advantage.

Experience is preferred but we are willing to accommodate a training pathway for the right candidate.

There will be the opportunity to take over the management of the nursing team at a later date, so if you aspire to take on a management role, this would be an advantage.

About us

We are a committed team and our organisation has been a recognised training Practice for many years. We have 9 GPs and look after approximately 14,200 patients from excellent fully equipped premises.

We have a fantastic nursing team which consists of Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses and Health Care Assistants.

We have an experienced reception and admin team supporting our range of services and personnel in addition to a paramedic, and a first contact physiotherapist.

We commend ourselves on our team spirit and ethos and whilst working under immense pressure we deliver care of a high standard. We are fortunate to work in excellent premises, including a staff gym, it is a positive place of work. We will offer the successful candidate a salary package dependant upon experience, within the pay range of Agenda for Change band 6/7 depending on experience and skill set, you can join the NHS pension scheme and enjoy holiday entitlement in line with Agenda for Change.
