Job summary

About the role:

This is a new role and you'll be a pivotal part of our training team. As the first point of contact for the team you will be experienced and responsive in dealing with enquiries. You'll be used to working with managers and partners and have proven experience of planning, co-ordinating and supporting the delivery of training and development.

You'll take a strategic approach to training, assessing the skills and knowledge within an organisation and determining what training is needed to grow and retain these skills. In conjunction with the HR Business Manager you'll design and deliver the training yourself in most cases or be resourceful in identifying training in an environment where budgets are tight.

You'll bring significant working experience of using Microsoft tools, and other platforms and technology including Teams and be used to supporting others. You must have a positive, can-do approach and the ability to work with initiative, being curious and always thinking ahead to anticipate need and deal with issues.

You will deliver training to groups or individuals via a range of methods such as online, face-to-face or blended learning.

Collaboration will be key to your approach, detail orientated and be great at managing your time and priorities and working to consistently high standards. As a great planner, co-ordinator and supporter you willsuccessfully deliver of all our online and in-person events.

Main duties of the job

The Training and Development Officer is expected to work closely with the HR Business Manager. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

  • Work in conjunction with the HR Business Manager to support the preparation and implementation of training and development strategies and programmes
  • identify training and development needs within a organisation through job analysis, appraisal schemes and regular consultation with managers
  • design, expand and manage training and development programmes based on the needs of the organisation and the individua
  • create and/or deliver a range of training using face-to-face, digital and blended learning option
  • Liaise with managers and team leaders to ensure relevant training is provided to all staff and new areas of training are identified and implemented in a timely manner.

About the Team:

You'll join a relatively new team HR, Training and Development - who will be clear about our role of creating a positive and impactful learning experience for all at Pathfields. You'll work alongside colleagues within the new team and across the organisation to plan, co-ordinate, develop and deliver our learning and development programme.

Job responsibilities

  • Work in conjunction with the HR Business Manager to support the preparation and implementation of training and development strategies and programmes.
  • identify training and development needs within a organisation through job analysis, appraisal schemes and regular consultation with managers.
  • design, expand and manage training and development programmes based on the needs of the organisation and the individual
  • create and/or deliver a range of training using face-to-face, digital and blended learning options
  • Liaise with managers and team leaders to ensure relevant training is provided to all staff and new areas of training are identified and implemented in a timely manner.
  • Manage the onboarding of GP students and trainees to ensure a smooth and robust induction process and ongoing support whilst they are with Pathfields.
  • Liaise with the relevant partner and GP mentors to ensure adequate support is available to the students and trainees
  • produce training materials for in-house courses
  • monitor and review the progress of trainees through appraisals, questionnaires and discussions with managers, and provide trainees with timely and constructive feedback
  • devise individual learning plans
  • evaluate training and development programmes, and prepare reports for management in areas such as usage, engagement and performance
  • amend and revise programmes as necessary to adapt to changes occurring in the work environment and industry developments
  • help line managers and trainers solve specific training problems, either on a one-to-one basis or in groups
  • promote a work culture of continuing professional development (CPD)
  • keep up to date with developments in training by reading relevant journals, going to meetings and attending relevant courses
  • research new technologies and methodologies in workplace learning and present this research
  • Advise and provide guidance on training and development policies and procedures to managers and team leaders.
  • Implement and support the governance and management processes that relate to the agreement and sign off of adhoc training and development across the organisation.
  • Ensure employee mandatory training is up to date and recorded on Practice Index.
  • Provide reports to team leaders and managers on the completion of mandatory training.
  • Review the existing appraisal process and implement robust changes to ensure an effective staff appraisal process that is consistently applied across the Practice.
  • Co-ordinating the reviewing and updating of all training and development policies and procedures.
  • Manage HR electronic training files to ensure they are legally compliant and kept up to date in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support in the line management of the Training Administrator.
  • Work with the HR Business Manager and the wider management to design and implement development pathways for team leaders and management roles.

Key Focus for first six months

  • Review, develop and implement a robust induction programme to ensure we have a fit for purpose induction process for all staff and students working at Pathfields.
  • Review and evaluate the staff onboarding programme annually to ensure this captures all relevant processes for IT access, pensions and financial purposes.
  • Develop a range of management and leadership training for all managers.
