We are looking for a confident, highly experienced team player with excellent communication and organisational skills, a positive attitude and commitment to work.

We are seeking three indiviudals to join the Practice on a part time and full time basis. Please contact the Practice should you wish to enquire further regarding the working pattern on a part time basis.

The Heron Medical Practice is a 7 Partner general medical practice with a wide ranging patient demographic based in Herne Bay and Hersden. We are looking for a new receptionist to join our team.

The Practice team is passionate about providing a high quality service to our patients, as well as maintaining a high level of professionalism. Our work environment boasts strong team-working ethics.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, processing of information and assisting patients as required. To act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.

The Heron Medical Practices looks after 18,000 patients across Herne Bay and Hersden over 3 sites. We have a large team of doctors, advanced care practitioners, nurses and other clinicians as well as a large team on non-clinical support staff.

Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the receptionist. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

a. Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system

b. Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments

c. Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately

d. Signpost patients to the correct service

e. Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies

f. Photocopy documentation as required

g. Data entry of temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required

h. Input data into the patients healthcare records as necessary

i. Direct requests for information i.e. SAR, insurance / solicitors letters and DVLA forms to the Medical Secretaries

j. Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner

k. Carry out system searches as requested

l. Retrieve and file medical records

m. Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times

n. Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards

o. Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
  • GCSE Mathematics & English (C or above)

  • AMSPAR Receptionists Qualification
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care

Experience
