Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Practice Nurse to join our experienced nursing team, on a fixed term basis to cover maternity leave. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about patient care and proactive in improving quality within a primary care setting. The new practice nurse can expect to be working in an encouraging and supportive practice environment. They will undertake a range of nursing assessments and provide appropriate care or treatment in conjunction with our clinical team and practice policies.
Part time position available 20 to 24 hours p/w Monday to Wednesday

Main duties of the job
Chronic
disease management (eg diabetes, asthma, COPD)
Wound
care - ECGs - Venipuncture and Injections.
Working within defined clinical protocols.
Immunisations;
child and routine.
The post holder should have a good
knowledge of clinical governance. They should also understand the requirements for PGDs and associated policy.

Front Street Surgery has been
open for over 40 years and we have approximately 8500 patients. Our main branch
is in Acomb with a satellite branch in Copmanthorpe. The post holder will be
expected to work from both sites. We are a very friendly and supportive team - led by a team of 4 experienced and forward-thinking partners. We offer a
multi-skilled clinical team which comprises of 10 GPs, practice nurses, HCAs,
phlebotomist and we also have a PCN physiotherapist and mental health
practitioner. As a training practice, with HYMS, we welcome a diverse and

- Registered Nurse (NMC). Relevant nursing/health degree. Aware of accountability of own role and that required of a Practice Nurse. Good communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills along with good Keyboard skills.
Desirable
- Additional post-registration qualification. Recognised cervical screening qualification. Clinical skills - vaccination, wound care, ear care, venepuncture, recording ECGs, spirometry. Knowledge of health promotion strategies. Change management skills and ability to support patients to change lifestyle.
Experience
Essential
- Able to work as a team member and autonomously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills .
- Effective time management (planning and organising)
- Strong IT skills - including clinical IT system user skills.
- Flexible and cooperative .
- Problem solver with the ability to process information accurately and effectively, interpreting data as required.
Desirable
- Working with learning disability - elderly - housebound pts.
- Special interest in women's health and travel medicine
