Health Care Assistant - NORTHGATE SURGERY, PONTEFRACT
WORK PATTERN: 25-37 hours per week
MONDAY - FRIDAY BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 7AM-6PM
We are looking for an experienced Health Care Assistant to join our team. This is a busy Practice and you will be very involved in patient care.
The role is for 25-37 hours a week. However, flexibility is essential as you will also be expected to cover for holidays and sickness. Pay rate is competitive and you will receive 6 weeks holiday plus bank holiday (pro rata). Previous experience as a Health Care Assistant in General Practice or another busy clinical environment is essential.
Main duties of the job
Duties and Responsibilities
To undertake all duties in line with the training and instruction provided by the Nurses, Nurse Practitioner and General Practitioners
Assistance at clinics (including minor operation clinics) ensuring patient care by chaperoning and assisting patients to dress and undress
Conduct weight and height measurements, test and record blood pressure and blood sugar levels
Venepuncture and the taking and preparing of pathology samples
Undertake ECG, Ear syringing and Spirometry testing and dressings if trained to do so
Assist with the provision of health checks for target groups
The collection of clinical waste, ensuring appropriate storage prior to disposal
The ongoing cleaning and sterilization of clinical equipment and working surfaces, preparing treatment rooms prior to use
Ensure adequate infection control procedures in treatment/consulting rooms
Use of Practice clinical system for patient searches for clinics and patient recall
To ensure adequate clinical stock levels/ medical stationery
