The Portchester Practice is seeking a motivated and reliable Healthcare
Assistant (HCA) to join our dedicated clinical team. We are a well-established

Main duties of the job
As a Healthcare Assistant at The Portchester Practice, you will support the clinical team in delivering safe, high-quality care to our patients. Your work will include carrying out health checks, taking blood samples, performing ECGs, administering immunisations under PSD, assisting with wound care, and promoting healthy lifestyles. Youll also play an important role in maintaining equipment, managing clinical stock, and supporting infection control processes all within a friendly and supportive team environment.

Responsible to: Practice Nurse Lead / Practice Manager
Salary: Dependent on experience
Hours: Between 08:0018:30 Monday to Friday (hours negotiable)
Contract: Permanent
Job Summary:The Healthcare Assistant will work under the guidance of the nursing team and other clinicians to provide safe, effective and high-quality care to patients. The role includes assisting with a wide range of clinical duties, promoting health and wellbeing, supporting the smooth running of the practice, and contributing to the wider team effort.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:Clinical Duties:

Perform phlebotomy

Carry out NHS Health Checks (including new patient and learning disability checks)

Record and monitor vital signs (e.g. blood pressure, pulse, temperature)

Conduct ECGs

Carry out blood glucose testing and urinalysis

Undertake wound care and dressing changes as required

Administer immunisations under Patient Specific Direction (PSD)

Support minor surgery clinics (e.g. setup, chaperoning, aftercare)

Provide lifestyle and health promotion advice (e.g. smoking cessation, weight management)
