Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Pharmacy Technician to join our established pharmacy team which currently comprises of 2 pharmacists and a pharmacy technician.

Main duties of the job

  • To undertake medicines reconciliation in accordance with practice protocols and to update patients medical records / prescribing accordingly.
    • To support the achievement of the practices prescribing Quality and Outcomes Framework targets.
    • To provide advice to GPs, staff and patients in changes to prescribing to support the improvement of prescribing safety, quality and cost effectiveness.
    • To respond to medication queries from patients and staff in a professional manner referring to the appropriate GP /pharmacist.
    • To assist in the submission of claims for personally administered drugs as required.
    • To undertake medicines reconciliation in accordance with practice protocols and to update patients medical records / prescribing accordingly.

    About us

    Stirchley Medical Practice is based in South East Telford, and serves a population of approximately 25000.

    We work over 2 sites and belong to the South East Telford PCN.

    We have a large primary care team consisting of 17 GPs, a large nursing team including ANPs, Practice Nurses and HCA's, 2 Pharmacists, 1 Pharmacy Technician and social prescribers.

    We are a teaching practice so are able to offer are a supportive working environment and we value the importance of team work.

    • Working alongside a pharmacist undertaking medicines reconciliation in accordance with practice protocols and to update patients medical records / prescribing accordingly.

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a Pharmacy Technician
    • - Experience working in a community or primary care pharmacy setting
    • - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • - Strong IT skills and attention to detail
    • Desirable

    • Experience working in a GP practice or primary care network
    • - Understanding of EMIS or similar clinical systems
    • - Knowledge of NHS policies and procedures
