Job summary

We are looking for a Clinical Coder who will provide a full range of administrative support, to assist the day to day running of our services. You will have a flexible approach with attention to detail to work as part of a busy team.

Main duties of the job

What will you be doing

Summarise and read code relevant information from patients clinical records, hospital correspondence into EMIS Web

Follow strict practice protocols, policies and procedures including confidentiality of all information.

Process all correspondence received, in both digital and paper formats accurately and efficiently.

Undertake clinical documentation reading and assist in workflow optimisation.

Manage new patient registration.

Ensuring our patients receive the best service by showing patience, empathy and compassion

Support clinical staff with administration duties as requested.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To be responsible for the read coding of relevant information into patients electronic healthcare records on the clinical system, adhering to the Practice policies and procedures.

In addition, the post holder will support the multi-disciplinary team, providing administrative support as required, in line with the needs of the organisation.

The following are the core responsibilities of the Clinical Coder. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.

a. Accurately clinically coding data on the clinical system into the patient record

b. Identifying relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, coding appropriately and completing any detailed action

c. Inputting and extracting data as required to support practice reports

d. Filing and storing records as required

e. Photocopying documentation as required

f. Actioning all incoming correspondence, emails and mail in a timely manner

g. Scanning patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients healthcare records

h. Inputting data into patients healthcare records as necessary

i. Answering incoming telephone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately

j. Carrying out system searches as requested

k. Maintaining a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times

l. Supporting all clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested
