An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly GP practice team.
We are seeking a warm, confident and highly communicative individual to join us as a Healthcare Assistant (HCA). This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with people, can build rapport easily, and is able to communicate clearly, sensitively and professionally with patients from all backgrounds.
Excellent communication skills are essential for this role. You will often work one-to-one with patients in a clinical room, carrying out health checks and discussing lifestyle, wellbeing and long-term conditions. The ability to put patients at ease, explain information clearly, and encourage healthy living choices is a crucial part of the job.
Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant is not required. Full training and support will be provided for all clinical skills, so we welcome applications from candidates who are motivated, keen to learn, and committed to delivering high-quality patient-centred care.
You will work closely with GP's, practice nurses and administrative staff to ensure a smooth, efficient service and a positive experience for our patients.
This is a 22.5 hour role, covering Wednesday to Friday each week.
Main duties of the job
Full training will be provided to enable you to:
- Communicate effectively with patients during one-to-one appointments, including health checks and lifestyle discussions
- Perform clinical observations including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight and BMI
- Undertake phlebotomy and obtain samples for testing
- Support chronic disease management reviews under the guidance of the nursing team
- Administer selected vaccines and injections
- Conduct NHS Health Checks and support health promotion activity
- Prepare and maintain clinical rooms, ensuring equipment is clean and stocked
- Accurately record patient information using clinical systems
- Support clinicians during minor surgery and coil clinics
