Job summary

Sarum West Primary Care Network is seeking Physiotherapy support for its patient population in the field of MSK diagnosis and treatment. Hours and days to be determined dependent on the needs of the GP practices within its area, but these will be part time posts. The roles will be expected to be predominantly face to face with telephone triage as a secondary option as agreed at interview.

Main duties of the job

  • First contact physiotherapists operate at an advanced level of clinical practice, with skills to assess, diagnose, treat and manage musculoskeletal (MSK) problems and undifferentiated conditions. This will involve predominantly seeing patients face to face, to establish a rapid and accurate diagnosis and management plan, thus streamlining pathways of care. To include but not limited to:
  • Prescribe medication within scope
  • Develop skills relating to injection therapy
  • Perform diagnostic investigations
  • Signpost/refer to health and care services
  • Audit health and care practice

  • Committed to ongoing personal and professional development on behalf of the PCN

Working structure and Supervision:

  • Flexible to the needs of the GP practices and patient population
  • Willing to work in more than one location if required and across different days
  • Expected to work independently without day-to-day supervision
  • Expected to engage in regular supervision sessions with a Clinical lead assigned to their management and support.
