Job summary
Dual role:
Phlebotomist will provide high-quality venepuncture services to
patients in a safe, effective, and caring manner. The role involves working
closely with clinical and administrative teams to ensure timely collection and
processing of blood samples and supporting the smooth operation of the
practice.
NHS Health checks to deliver the NHS Health Check programme by conducting basic health assessments and providing patients 40-74 with lifestyle advice; Blood Pressure, Height, Weight, BMI, Cholesterol testing - the role is patient-facing and helps promote early detection and lifestyle change.

Phlebotomist:
- Perform venepuncture safely and efficiently on patients of all ages, following clinical protocols
- Accurately label, record and prepare blood samples for laboratory processing
- Ensure all procedures are carried out in line with infection control and health & safety guidelines
NHS Health checks:
- Deliver NHS HC aged 40-74
- Take and record health measurements
- Use validated risk assessment tools
- Provide brief lifestyle advice and health education
- Refer patients to appropriate services, such as smoking cessation, weight management or GP follow-up
About us
The Apples Medical Centre is a well-established NHS GP surgery located in Sherborne, Dorset, serving approx 5,400 patients from the town and surrounding villages.

- The practice is a Dispensing practice, caters for patients who live more than one mile from the nearest pharmacy
Practice team:
The clinical team comprises of four GPs, two practice nurses and two HCAs. They are supported by the Managing partner and an administrative team of eight staff members
