Job summary

We are currently looking to recruit for two full time, enthusiastic Medical Receptionists to join our ever-expanding team. The post holder will play a key role in actively managing the administrative processes of patient pathways and the associated administrative staff to ensure a smooth and efficient service for patients throughout their journey. Also to provide an effective administration service to the multidisciplinary team.

Being a Medical Receptionist is demanding role and will be best suited for someone who works well under pressure and is able to manage their time and work load effectively. The role encompasses administrative tasks, being the face of patient services, working with the clinicians to provide safe and effective patient care. If you want to be at the forefront of patient care, in a friendly and enthusiastic team, then this role may be for you.

We have two full time vacancies available, hours listed below:

Role 1:

Monday: Day off

Main duties of the job

This is an interesting and varied role involving Front Desk and Telephone work, so you will need excellent proven Customer Service skills and have a confident friendly personality with good IT skills.

The ideal candidate maintains and promotes an efficient and high quality service to all internal and external clients inclusive of patients, families, clinicians and members of the public. To be eligible for this post the applicant will need to have achieved grades C or above in English and Maths or equivalent.

Previous experience within an administrative or medical environment is desirable but not essential, as training will be available.

The position would require the candidate to be available for additional Saturday morning cover session (8-11.00am) and evening session (6-9pm) on a rota basis to cover holiday and sickness. There may be opportunities for overtime and additional tasks. The rate of pay is competitive, and will increase upon completion of the probation period.

We are currently looking to recruit for a Patient Care Co-ordinator; the role will encompass various aspects from customer service to conflict resolution and administration which together ensure the smooth running of the team.

Patient Care Co-ordinator: managing the patients experience positively.

Hours of work will be varied as per the terms agreed however will cover the core practice opening times of:

Monday to Friday 8.00am 6.00pm

Evening and weekend working may be required as part of a rota.

Hours worked in excess of contracted hours are treated as overtime

The idea candidate is confident and reliable who has demonstrated a positive working attitude and common sense approach to working. They will be; comfortable when dealing with all walks of life both with patients and other organisations, a good listener, non-judgmental and willing to take on new challenges and roles within the practice.

Being an effective patient co-ordinator - Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way, either in person or via the telephone

Working to the standards and founding principles set by the practice

Dealing with patient enquiries over the phone and in person including booking appointments for patients

Being able to liaise effectively with clinicians and medical services

Liaising with doctors, nurses and other practice staff

Recording & relaying messages

Processing/issuing repeat prescriptions

Dealing with incoming mail & scanning onto computer system

Processing incoming/outgoing mail

Filing paper based reports, letters, etc. and retrieving files

Maintaining and updating patients manual and computer held records

Essential Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

Attention to detail

Maths Grade C GCSE or above

English Grade C GCSE or above

Good organisational skills

Good keyboard skills

Be able to effectively communicate with a wide range of people with very different needs both in person and over the phone
