Job summary

We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team at Layton Medical Centre. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about patient care and looking to develop their skills in a busy general practice setting.

As an integral part of our clinical team, you will provide essential support to GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, helping to ensure the highest standard of patient care.

Main duties of the job

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will support the practice team in delivering a range of clinical and administrative tasks, including but not limited to:

phlebotomy.

Conducting ECGs and blood pressure monitoring.

Performing NHS Health Checks and Enhanced Health checks

Supporting the Practice Nurses with long-term condition management, including diabetes, AF, and hypertension obs reviews.

Carrying out height, weight, and BMI measurements.

Processing specimens (urine, swabs) and conducting basic diagnostic tests.

Providing lifestyle advice to patients, including smoking cessation and weight management.

Updating and maintaining patient records accurately in the clinical system.

  • Understanding of infection control, confidentiality, and safeguarding protolcols.

  • Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant in a GP surgery, hospital, or community setting.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification/experience).
