Job summary
Our
Practice Manager is retiring after 21 years at the Practice, and we are looking
to recruit an experienced Practice Manager to replace her and to join our
friendly and well-established Practice. We place a
strong emphasis on staff well-being and are focused on maintaining a positive
work-life balance and a supportive working environment.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record
of successfully leading a team, along with solid financial and HR management.
You should have experience of strategic leadership and forging innovation along
with the ability to identify potential opportunities and threats and formulate
objectives and ideas for future Practice development. You will need to be able to remain calm under
pressure and focus on the bigger picture.
Previous Practice Manager experience or experience working in General
Practice or the NHS is highly desirable.
Ideally, we are looking for
someone to work 30-32 hours a week over 4 days but would consider full-time
hours.

Main duties of the job
The role requires someone who is confident in
managing staff and has strong leadership skills. The individual must be able to
demonstrate strong strategic and financial management alongside more general
management including health and safety, IT, HR and quality improvement. The
successful candidate will be assisted by a strong team of managers and
supportive and enthusiastic Partners.
About us
Pershore Medical Practice is a multi-disciplinary
team with 4 GP Partners and 1 ANP Partner.
We are a GP training practice based in the market town of Pershore in
Worcestershire with an excellent nursing team including specialist nurses,
nurse associates and HCAs. We are a
dispensing Practice with our own Dispensary and a Clinical Pharmacist supported
by 3 pharmacy technicians. Our clinician
and patients are supported by a competent and committed team of receptionists
and administrators.
The practice cares for around 11,000 patients. In
the last GP survey, we were proud to be above both the local and national
benchmarks in terms of patient satisfaction. We have a Google rating of 4.3
stars out of 5.
We achieve highly on QOF, local quality targets and
are rated Good by CQC.
We work closely with the 2 other local practices
within the Pershore and Upton Primary Care Network (Abbottswood Medical Centre
and Upton Surgery).

- Manage practice accounts; submit year-end figures promptly and liaise with the practice accountant
- Monitor cash-flow, prepare regular forecasts and reports to the partners
- Monitor and oversee income and expenditure statements and purchase/sales ledger transactions
- Plan and manage partners drawings
- Oversee the PAYE and pension function for practice staff and ensure appropriate records are kept
- Manage appropriate systems for handling and recording of cash and cheques and petty cash.
- Accountant work closely with accountant & provide year end accounts info
- Manage all aspects of VAT including monthly and annual returns
Human resources
- Oversee the recruitment and retention of staff and provide a general personnel management service
- Manage staffing levels within target budgets
- Evaluate and oversee staff induction and training, and ensure that all staff are adequately trained to fulfil their role
- Oversee effective staff appraisal and monitoring systems
- Support and mentor staff, both as individuals and as team members including Team Managers
- Implement effective systems for the resolution of disputes and grievances
- Keep abreast of changes in employment legislation
- Ensure the maintenance of up-to-date HR documentation (including job descriptions, employment contracts and employment policies)
- Oversee the work of the Deputy Practice Manager and Team Managers including the organisation or regular management meetings. Oversee all teams and deal with complex issues as they arise.

Information management and technology

Contract Management
- Responsibility for the management of all aspects of the GMS and PCN Contracts
- Keeping the GMS Contract under review and ensuring that the Practice is compliant with contractual requirements.
- Carrying out scoping exercises and bids for future contracts as agreed with the Partners
- Having an overview of all Local Enhanced Services contracts
Primary Care Network
- Manage PCN Contract and ensure all aspects of the contract are actioned at Practice level.
- Manage and monitor PCN income and expenditure

- Attend PCN meetings and ensure actions points followed up
