Job summary

We are offering a part time role to the right candidate. The role is for 14 hours per week. Wednesdays & Fridays 7.30am -2.30pm .Please only apply if you are able to do the specified hours.

Members of the reception team may also be required to work flexible shift patterns within the practice during Monday to Friday. Flexibility in working pattern is essential .On occasion cover may be required at short notice due to staff absence. In these circumstances we will need you to change your hours at short notice.Please ensure that you can work flexibly within these working times prior to applying for the role.

Main duties of the job

You should be able to receive assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous,eficient and effective way.

Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive friendly image to patients and other visitors,either in person or via the telephone.

We are a busy GP practice in Headingley

Experience in a GP surgery or similar NHS environment is preferred and desirable, although previous experience in a patient or customer facing environment with a clear focus on administrative tasks will be considered, where relevant.

REPORTS TO: PRACTICE MANAGER

Job Summary:

Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone

Job Responsibilities:

Administration

To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures.

To work in accordance of written protocols

Scanning and filing correspondence in medical records

Fax and photocopy notes as requested

Reception

Receiving patients consulting with members of Practice team

Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address.

Be able to cover all receptions position as necessary

Appointments

Process requests for urgent and routine appointments from patients by telephone and in person.

Deal with visits requests

Computer

Registration of new patients computer data entry and medical records.

Process patients change of address computer data and medical records (have knowledge of Practice area.

Scanning of medical records

Process repeat prescription request in accordance with Practice guidelines.

Telephone

Have working knowledge of telephone system.

Be able to direct phone calls

Be able to switch phones between day and night modes.

Other Tasks

Stocking of Rooms

Clear rooms after surgeries

Ensure building security have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm.

Make tea/coffee for doctors

Any other tasks allocated by Reception Team Leader
