Job summary

Woodlands Medical Centre is an expanding practice in Didcot. We have around 19000 patients currently but there are long term plans for a second branch practice to open in the town in the next few years to support the rapid expansion in houses and population in the town.

There are currently 11 partners and 6 salaried GPs and you would be joining a lively and supportive team at the practice and would be well fortified with lunchtime discussions, supportive mentoring and development and a steady supply of biscuits to keep you going.

Main duties of the job

As well as the doctors there is a team of highly trained nurses including an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, a Specialist Diabetes Nurse and two Asthma Nurses. There are 2 Nurse Associates and a team of HCAs who are motivated to continue up-skilling

We are part of Didcot Primary Care Network which means we benefit from the expertise of Clinical Pharmacists, Social Prescribers, Mental Health workers and MSK First Contact Practitioners.

We are a training practice for GP Specialist Trainees, and Medical Students (years 4 & 5)

We are an active research site the locality with Dr Cheryl Heng leading on Research projects and supported by a dedicated Research Nurse.

There is a Locality Visiting Service provided by PML in Oxfordshire.

Woodlands is a purpose built GP Surgery building which was extended in 2017.

We use Using EMISWeb, DOCMAN and Accurx including the Accurx Total Triage system.

About us

Woodlands is a growing practice which is preparing to take on a large branch surgery in a few years to support the growth in housing and population in the town.

The practice supports their doctors to have their own special interests and we have Dermatology specialists, senior trainers, appraisers, media experts and sports medicine enthusiasts working here. Two of our salaried doctors are currently undertaking a GP Fellowship programme.

Lunchtime includes regular meetings to discuss clinical updates, learning events and audit presentations as well as the opportunity just to debrief and discuss cases with your colleagues.
