Job summary
Abbots Bromley Surgery is a friendly rural dispensing practice serving approximately 4,000 patients. We are seeking an experienced Receptionist-Administrator with a background in primary care to join our supportive team. This role includes mandatory completion of the General Practice Assistant (GPA) training programme, unless you already hold the qualification. The GPA role combines administrative duties with basic clinical support, offering a structured and supported development pathway within general practice. You will be part of a valued, close-knit team and play an important role in ensuring patients receive safe, efficient and compassionate care.
Main duties of the job
Provide a welcoming, professional front-of-house service to patients and visitors
Manage incoming calls, appointment booking and patient enquiries using EMIS Web
Ensure accurate completion of administrative tasks including document handling, coding, summarising and data entry
Complete the General Practice Assistant, GPA, qualification within agreed timescales if not already qualified
Support clinicians with delegated administrative and basic clinical tasks as part of the GPA role
Work effectively as part of the wider practice team to ensure smooth daily operations
Assist with referral management and tracking
Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
Provide occasional additional hours - up to 7 extra hours - to support annual leave cover

- Phlebotomy skills
