We are looking for a Practice Nurse to join our growing team - could this be you?
We are a super friendly Nursing Team consisting of five Practice Nurses and two Healthcare Assistants AND we have a designated PA to assist us with all that burdening admin-type stuff and timetabling etc to make your clinical life as smooth and slick as possible! Our team benefit from regular breaks, realistic appointment timings, protected daily set-up, admin and cleardown time, as well as post-holiday catch up time!
Main duties of the job
Essential criteria
- To have experience in General Practice.
- We are looking for someone who can administer & advise on adult, child and NHS travel immunisations.
- Administer routine injectable treatments such as Zoladex, Prostap, Decapeptyl, Denosumab, vitamin B12.
- Assess, plan & treat both acute and chronic wounds. Removal of sutures.
- Provide holistic health promotion including screening to targeted individuals and groups within the Practice. This will include cervical cytology, urinalysis, ECG.
Desirable criteria
- Perform doppler as part of holistic leg assessment. Provide compression treatment where appropriate.
- Routine review of womens health including contraception and HRT reviews.
- Monitoring & review of patients with known chronic disease, following practice protocols and in keeping with own scope of competence.

Clinical Responsibilities.
- Responsible for maintaining high standards of care for patients and ensuring that care is delivered in accordance with recognised quality standards e.g., NICE guidance.
- Provide nursing treatment, assessments, and screening to patients.
- Be aware of and adhere to local Child Protection Procedures.
- To be flexible in response to a varying caseload and Practice emergencies.
- Advise patients on general health care, health education and minor ailments with referral to other team members of the primary health care team as necessary.
- Maintain clear lines of accountability to manage any evidence of poor clinical practice.
- To adhere to the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Professional Conduct.
- Exercise awareness of professional responsibilities being familiar with current evidence and taking opportunities for personal development in line with Revalidation.
- Access regular peer support and attend Primary Care Nurse Meetings.
- To undertake research and assist in audit as necessary to own work.
Other tasks may include:
- Cleaning of medical equipment used.
- Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of the treatment rooms.
- Restocking of treatment rooms.
- Assisting with the ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels.
- Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician.
- Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required.
- Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post.
