A fantastic opportunity to join a high performing GP surgery, looking to welcome a new Practice Nurse to the team.
We are seeking someone to work 37.5 hours per week, but could have some flexibility around this for the right candidate.

Main duties of the job
To support the nursing team to providing the delivery of safe, effective and efficient general medical services to the patient population of the practice. Acting within professional boundaries and providing high quality holistic care for patients. The Practice Nurse is an integral part of the practice clinical team. The role is to work alongside a friendly, hardworking team of General Practitioners. nursing colleagues, admin and reception staff in the care of practice patients.

Hilltops Medical Centre was founded in 1983, we are an established training practice of 16,000 patients.
Our practice is approved to train fully qualified doctors who wish to specialise in general practice, we are also approved to train medical students who spend up to six weeks with us seeing patients along with their mentor.
We are part of the Watling Street Network (PCN) and have a community team including nurses, social prescribers and social work assistant supporting our patient populations.

Job responsibilities
- Provide nursing services to patients, including treatment, screening, advice and minor therapeutic procedures.
- Run special clinics for patients including family planning, child health surveillance, vaccinations, cervical cytology, warfarin monitoring and chronic disease management, assist with minor surgery and coil/implanons clinics.
- To undertake diagnostic tests including blood glucose monitoring, PEFR and urine analysis.
- To advise on and supervise patients use of devices including MDIs, PEFR meters, urinary diagnostic stix, blood glucose monitoring and nebulisers.
- To take and despatch safely laboratory specimens including blood, urine, swabs and smears.
- To provide ear syringing, treatment for cuts and bruises, dressings of wounds and leg ulcers and removal of sutures.
- To provide immunisations for all ages and diseases and to know the contra-indications and side effects of vaccinations.
- To provide telephone advice to patients and occasional home visits where appropriate and within levels of competence.
