Job summary

Western Road Surgery is looking to recruit a receptionist to join our team on a Part time basis. The role will be a regular 18 hours, with an additional 5 hours of regular holiday cover.

Main duties of the job

Our Reception team are the first point of contact for patients whether they walk in, phone in, or use triage or email. The role includes booking appointments, arranging prescriptions, and dealing with all types of requests that come in from patients.

About us

Western Road Surgery is a busy and growing teaching practice in Billericay, Essex.

Our team is made up of 6 Partners, Nurses, Pharmacists, a GP Assistant, Care-Co Ordinators, Practice Manager, Secretaries, Administrators and Receptionists. You will be working closely alongside our Practice Manager and supporting her in that role.

Billericay is a commuter town in Essex. The Surgery is located a 5-minute walk from the Station and backs onto the High Street which is full of places to enjoy a coffee or lunch break. We work with the other practices in town as part of Billericay PCN.

You will work within a team of 5-6 receptionists each day to manage incoming calls, emails and triage requests from patients. This will include booking appointments, sharing test results, arranging prescriptions etc. Youll also manage tasks from other healthcare professionals such as district nurses, sharing these with the correct team members.

Youll provide support to the Clinical team, which could include chaperoning examinations or restocking rooms. Youll also support with general administration and filing of records.

Desirable

  • - have experience of working within a receptionist role, ideally within a primary care general practice position, but this is not essential.
  • have experience of receiving and making telephone calls in a previous role.
  • - have strong IT skills and be able to use computer-based systems experience of SystmOne would be advantageous but not essential as training will be provided
  • - have strong organisational skills
  • - have strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal staff as well as external agencies and patients
  • - be able to work effectively within a team, as well as to work independently. This list is not exhaustive and is subject to change by request of the practice manager and partners.
